From his birth in 1894 in New York to his death in 1978, this great classically American illustrator continued to depict the heart of America throughout his lifetime. The images he created combine realism with fantasy, humour, and satire, and his vivid portrayals of people and animals even now seem ready to come to life.  His illustrations depict the emotions and daily lives of the American people in a variety of scenes.  Even after his death, his work remains as popular as ever.
